The German Dual Vocational Training Programme (GDVT) in Penang is designed to up-skill the existing workforce and school leavers with international-level skills and competencies.

Apprentices are trained through a two-pronged approach, where training is conducted at both, the workplace and training institutions in actual work conditions and under the guidance of competent coaches and classroom trainers.

Being hired by the host companies, students will gain knowledge by working on the job and benefit from the expertise of senior colleagues.

As employees of the host company, students will receive a monthly salary as agreed in their employment contract.

The GDVT programme is accredited by both the Malaysian and German education system. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will receive certificates from the Department of Skills Development (Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran, JPK - Malaysian Skills Certification) based on the National Occupational Skills Standard (NOSS) using the National Dual Training System and the Malaysian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MGCC - AHK certification).
